Wwi Swiss Sawtooth Bayonet Model 1914 With ScabbardHere we have an lod ww1 sawtooth bayonet with scabbard from switzerland. This bayonet is known as a swiss model 1914 schmidt-rubin pioneer's or engineer's (a. K. A. Model 1911). It was manufactured from the period of 1914 through wwi. Alot of these bayonets were marked with the manufacturers name of waffenfabrik neuhausen but this one is marked with the letters h s and has the nubmers 58066 at the bottom of the blade. It also has a fancy p at the opening of the scabbard. The 1914 was issued to only select troops. They were used for cleaning brush, construction and combat if necessary, etc. The 1914 has a unique bulge at the end of the blade, also the blade is fuller only on one side. The flat side of the blade has 33 sawteeth on the left side and 32 sawteeth on the right side. Tehy are sharp and functional.
The overall length fo bayonet in scabbard is 24-1/4 long. The saw back blade measures 18-7/8 long x 1-1/8 at the widest part. The hilt including crossguard measures 5 long x 3-3/4 at crossguard. This is a nice collectible, good luck bidding!
